i have a dual booting system [p4, 128 MB / 40 gb with 8 gb for redhat 8]

when i start in gnome i cant play any sounds - and on on giving 'aumix' at bash prompt i get 'error opening mixer'

i also get a lot of warnings of the same type on exiting linux.

how can i setup sound on my system

i tried mandrake 9 too - but even that didn't give me sound

pleeaase help.

First your going to want to check the combatibility of your sound card to the linux version your using. Second your gonna want to check the thread below entitled, " No sound". We're already covering this subject. smile.gif

Hiya sg4friends. Sounds to me like the mixer isn't loaded up properly . . . i doubt it's got anything to do with your s'c and therefore should wait for a reply on this post!

But I reckon it's that the mixer isn't installed properly!
