I was dual booting Win7 and Mint 15 on a desktop with an AMD Phenom II 965 black edition, 16 gig, 1600mhz ram, Blueray burner, 500g n 1000g WD hdds n 4000g seagate hdd, but had a lot of issues with Mint, so I took it off and installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Cairo-Dock alongside Win7. Everything seems to be working so far except for the sound, I am running an ATI Radeon 7750 video card to a 32" Vizio through an HDMI connection, it even picked it up in the sound settings so I know it sees the video card.
I've been at "All Settings/Sound: and made sure the correct connector is chosen under both, "Output", HDMI/Display port is the only choice. Under "Hardware", I have changed several settings in "Built=in Audio" but it is now disabled, also, under "Choose a device to configure: Cape Verde/Pitcairn HDMI Audio [Radeon HD7700/7800 series]" is selected, Profile= Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output, I test speakers and nothing, and before installing extra prop. drivers I did not have this HDMI choice, so I know a driver has been installed. The Win7 install gives me sound through this HDMI connection and Mint even gave me sound so I know this install should be able to do so too. Does anyone have an idea what could be going on? Didn't see this "Please Read First", I hope someone can help me. This post has been edited by Clayman1000x: Apr 11 2014, 08:35 AM -------------------- Clay

I got it working, I opened System Settings/ Additional Drivers and chose a different driver of the 3 drivers listed for my video card, I actually have the AMD Catalyst Control Center now. Don't know how to mark this as solved but it is. Now to get my Num lock button to startup at boot. I am using the (post release update) version of the driver instead of the recomended one. Whoda thunk it?
