Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I recently moved from Alberta (Telus) to Manitoba (MTS) Now can't download movies. Ubuntu 12.04. Transmission>Preferences>Network says port 51413 closed, all ports in that range closed, can't open. How do I set my Transmission up?

I went from a wired desktop to a dual wired/wireless connection.

port is now open. transmission used to be automatic, now it asks me to choose an app, and can't find trans, doesn't work.
