Im a complete newbie, i installed red hat 9 and it boots fine but when i choose the DOS option in grub to boot XP it displays the following

rootnoverify(hd0,4)
chainloader+1

A disk read error occured
Ctrl , Atl Del to reboot

I then deleted the red hat partion and now XP boots fine.
I know red hat 9 can read NTFS (my windows partition is NTFS) can GRUB??

Please help, i really want to try out red hat but need windows for college at the moment.
