I just got this used laptop and put linux on it and I am not sure if their is a problem with the battery or not there does seem to be is their a terminal command to check battery health functionality mostly battery life if not can you suggest a way to check this also a place to get sheap working batterys also i do not know what type of laptop it is besides a gate way i will have to find that out if their is a problem I know

Knowing the model number will help a lot to determine its specifications. Check the tag on the bottom by the serial number.
How old is the laptop? If older then 5 years or so the batteries might just be bad.
