Hello everyone,
I recently decommissioned our old exchange server (HP Proliant DL380 G5 Intel Xeon 516@300GHz / 4GB RAM)
I want to use this HP server as a disaster recovery/backup machine that would run a Linux based OS with VM.
This way if one of my Windows servers went down unexpectedly I could take the most recent backup of that server. Then load, configure, and run it on the VM system temporally until I fix the server in question that went down.
My question is what OS & VM would you recommend to accomplish this?
NOTE: I have limited knowledge of both VM & Linux but I think a project like this would be a great intro learning experience.
