hello,

i've managed to get gtk+2.2.0 successfully installed. now when i'm trying to compile gaim, i get an error message when i run configure saying that it can't find gtk+2.2.0. I looked at config.log and noticed that it can't find gtk/gtk.h, which leads me to believe that it's looking for it in the wrong place. all i did after installing gtk was run ldconfig. was there something i left out? how should i fix this?

thanks

Hi,

I'm trying to install gtk+2.2.0. So far, I've been able to compile and make install for glib2.2.0, atk 1.2.0, and pango 1.2.5. However, when I run configure inside gtk+2.2.0, it tells me that i'm missing the package @FRIBIDI_PC@glib2.0. As far as i can tell, this is needed in the file glib-2.0-uninstalled.pc. I have no idea where to find this. Anybody know how to fix this? (i'm running mandrake 9.2).

thanks

Hi,

I seem to have a problem with my cdrom drive. It was working before but now when I try to access /mnt/cdrom, it keeps telling me that I have a input/output error.

Any ideas?

thanks

Hi,

I've just installed aterm but having some problems when I try to use it. If for example, I type the "clear" command, it gives me this message:

'kterm' : unknown terminal type.

I looked around in the aterm directory i installed from and it looks like there's some header files for other terminal types. I'm thinking I have to find some similar file for kterm.

Any suggestions?

thanks

I've been trying to install the packages needed to upgrade my glib to 2.2.0. However, after I've installed atk 1.2.0 and run configure and I try to make, it keeps giving this error:

/bin/sh: line 1: /usr/local/atk-1.2.0/atk/..//usr/local/glib-2.2.0/gobject/glib-genmarshal: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [stamp-atkmarshal.c] Error 127
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/atk-1.2.0/atk'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/atk-1.2.0'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

I've run ldconfig in the glib-2.2.0 directory and I've set my PKG_CONFIG_PATH env var to also include the paths to glib-2.2.0 and /usr/local/lib, but I'm still getting the same error. I'm doing this all as root since I'm installing everything in /usr/local.

I'm using Mandrake 9.1

any ideas?
thanks

Hi,

I'm new to Fluxbox and I just installed the Artwiz fonts, but I'm not sure how to use them. Anybody know? They should be able to be used in other applications as well right?

Thanks

Yea, I haven't tried installing mysql via tarball yet. I installed via RPM as this was the recommended way on the MySQL website. Or is it a better way to do it from source?

I've tried uninstalling the rpms but now i'm getting a weird error. rpm tells me that it can't uninstall:

root@localhost stuff]# rpm -e *.rpm
error: package MySQL-client-4.0.14-0.i386.rpm is not installed
error: package MySQL-devel-4.0.14-0.i386.rpm is not installed
error: package MySQL-server-4.0.14-0.i386.rpm is not installed
error: package MySQL-shared-4.0.14-0.i386.rpm is not installed

[root@localhost stuff]# rpm -Ui *.rpm
package MySQL-client-4.0.14-0 is already installed
package MySQL-devel-4.0.14-0 is already installed
package MySQL-server-4.0.14-0 is already installed
package MySQL-shared-4.0.14-0 is already installed

What's going on?

Hi,

I'm using Mandrake 9.1. I installed Apache by source and I'd prefer to install php by source as well. If the header files are in /usr/include/mysql, why doesn't --with-mysql=/usr/include/mysql work?

Hi,

I've been trying to install the latest version of PHP 4.3.3 and I'm having some problems when running the configure script. I've installed MySQL using the rpms provided at the MySQL website. I've installed the server, client and devel rpms:

MySQL-client-4.0.14-0.i386.rpm
MySQL-devel-4.0.14-0.i386.rpm
MySQL-server-4.0.14-0.i386.rpm

This is what I've been entering:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2/php --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-config-file-path=/usr/local/apache2/php --with-mysql=/usr/include/mysql

However the problem is that configure is saying that the MySQL header files cannot be found in that directory. I've done some checking around for where the files where installed and it seems that the header files are in /usr/include/mysql. I think quite a few other people might have this problem.

Any ideas?

Just the need packages for gtk, such as atk 1.2.0, pango and glib 2.2.0. Any idea why the rpm's aren't working? Why the error when compiling from source?

I've tried installing with rpms but there seems to be problems with my linux. when i use rpm -q to search for the packages, it says that it is not installed. I then use rpm -Ui and it says it already is installed. is this because that i tried installing from source?

I'm having some similar problems. I'm running Mandrake 9.1 and right now I'm trying to install gtk+ and all its dependencies by source. Right now I'm trying to install glib 2.2.0, atk 1.2.0 and pango 1.2.0. and I'm having trouble.

glib seemed to have installed correctly but when i run testglib i get these messages:

** (process:7042): WARNING **: harmless warning with parameters: 42 Boo 0x3039
** Message: the next warning is a test:

(process:7042): GLib-CRITICAL **: file gmessages.c: line 804 (g_print): assertion `format != NULL' failed

I'm not sure how to fix these, I think one error message is part of the test but not sure which one.

For atk, assuming that those glib messages were ok, I've run configure in the atk directory (in /usr/local) and then I've tried to run make. I then get this weird message:

/bin/sh: line 1: /usr/local/atk-1.2.0/atk/..//usr/local/glib-2.2.0/gobject/glib-genmarshal: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [stamp-atkmarshal.c] Error 127
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/atk-1.2.0/atk'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/atk-1.2.0'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

I've entered /usr/local/glib-2.2.0 in etc/ld.so.conf and run ldconfig as root in the glib directory. However, the atk makefile somehow can't detect that glib-genmarshal exists.

I've tried setting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH to include /usr/local/glib-2.2.0 but that doesn't seem to work either.

Any ideas?
