Figured it out. Was just loading the modules in the wrong order.
Incase any of you run into the problem here is the correct order.

insmod -f modules/usbcore.o
insmod -f modules/ehci-hcd
insmod -f modules/usb-uhci.o
insmod -f modules/uhci.o
insmod -f modules/usb-ohci.o
insmod -f modules/usb-storage.o
insmod -f modules/scsi_mod.o
insmod -f modules/sd_mod.o

Hi, im trying to get a linux version up and running off of a USB key drive. I have RH9 intsalled on it, and i can get all the USB modules loaded and the key drive recognized on boot. But when it goes to mount the root dir i get this error:

VFS: cannot open root device "sda2" or 08:02

I have looked around a lot on the net and all i cant find anything that helps. I have the drive partitioned with /dev/sda1 as boot and /dev/sda2 as the root.
Here is a copy of my linuxrc:

insmod -f modules/sd_mod.o
insmod -f modules/scsi_mod.o
insmod -f modules/usbcore.o
insmod -f modules/ehci-hcd
insmod -f modules/usb-uhci.o
insmod -f modules/uhci.o
insmod -f modules/usb-ohci.o
insmod -f modules/usb-storage.o
sleep 5
echo "Mounting /proc filesystem"
mount -t proc /proc /proc
echo "Mounting /dev/pts"
mount -t devpts /dev/pts /dev/pts

It gets thru all of that then hangs with the kernel panic.
Any ideas as to what im doing wrong or what i can do?
Thanks!

I have a redhat 9 server box that is set up as my mail server, supplying IMAP support to external clients. I can connect my mail client from another computer and access the folders and stuff that are on the server. Also i can send mail internally from one user to another and it will show up when i connect through an IMAP client on another computer.

My problem is this. If i try and send mail to user@ipaddressofserver the server does not get the mail. Weird thing is when i hit enter and send it, i can verify that the mail is getting to the server, the light blinks on that computer (its on a seperate network from the one im sending from and exposed directly to the internet), but the mail never gets to the user mailbox. Nor do any of the logs report that mail was recieved and there was just an error.

I am using the internal redhad deamons for the server BTW, not anything external. My thought is something with sendmail is rejecting it, but im not sure.

When setting up the server i said not to put up a firewall, so i know that is not in the way.

Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Thx in advance! wink.gif

Ok, i installed the rpm, restarted and its still not working. When i open an MP3 it looks like its playing it, the bar graph jumps around for a second, then stops, but there is no sound. Also the timer that counts how long the song is goes really fast, so im guessing something still is not working right.

I have redhat 9 on my work machine, and i just had to do an entire re-install of the system. The problem im having now is the color scheme in the console does not highlight my .c and .h files as it did before, but it still highlights directories/exectuables/archives fine. Any idea why this is and/or how i can fix it?
Thanks!
