I don't quit understand your question, you are using NVIDIA driver with a S3 graphic card?

From what you described, it looks like the XFree86 driver problem. Did you use upgrade from the nvidia wed site or your linux installation process choose the driver?

Please give more detail

I have the same printer but running redhat8.0
I have the same problem that the system configuration tools would not show the printer but you can change the print command of the program to lpr -Plexmarkz25-35 to print from the printer.
You can also use lpr -Plexmarkz25-35 [filename] from command line

Assume you are using lprng. I never use CUP so I am not sure if the above works for CUP

If you are doing socket programming, you should be better than this biggrin.gif

What exactly you want to do? Which "server" or "services" is needed for your program to work? There is no univeral server set up in any OS.

When you run the config script, does it warn of any miss library?

If not, try this
Open up esddsp.c and esddsp.h with an editor , look for all the include files, make sure they are in the /usr/local/include directory.

Windows Active directory added a lot of extra implementations to LDAP, so they are not equal.
SAMBA NG (next generation) is working on using a Linux box as Domain Controller in a WIN2K enviroment but I think it is not completed yet.

I am talking about tcpd ,is the daemon for TCP_wrappers NOT tcp. You are correct if tcp_wrapper support is complied in, then you can use the hosts.deny,(allow) file. But for performance purpose, we do not usually use tcpd to control ssh.

You are also correct that you can control who use ssh with the /etc/ssh_config file.

The keyword to use is "AllowHosts", this keyword can be followed by space-separated hosts name or IP addresses. also * and ? wildcards can be used.
You can also use "DenyHosts", "AllowUsers" and "DenyUsers" in the file

I think you can run Xconfigurator and reconfig X. I do not use Mandrake so this may or may not work but it worth a try

the /etc/hosts.deny(allow) file is only used by tcpd and SSH is not controlled by tcpd

You have to enable ip forwarding for IPV4

echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

You have IPv6 address bind to you NIC, I never use ipv6 so I cannot help for IPv6 stuff

This could also be a trick. People would tell you that your host is scanning their server and then ask you information on your host. They can then use those info to attack your host.

Assume you are using the linux box as gateway to the internet
eth0 is connected to you DSL or Cable modem or something like that and your isp
give you a dymanic address
eth1 is connected to the internal network via a hub or switch or something like that
1) The /etc/sysconfig/network file should look like this
ETWORKING=yes
FORWARD_IPV4=yes
GATEWAYDEV=eth0
2) you /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
ONBOOT=yes
3)you /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
DEVICE=eth1
IPADDR=192.168.0.1
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
BROADCAST=196.168.0.255
ONBOOT=YES
4) check you /etc/resolv.conf and note down the nameserver address, you need that to set up your window client
5) you will need iptables to do the masq, in simplest form, put the follow in a
script file and run it when booting

modprobe iptable_nat
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.0.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

now set up you windows machines to use 192.168.0.1 as default gateway and put the nameserver address in the TCP/IP setup

2) Make sure your samba server confguration give the user the right permission
Okay, here are a few questions for any of you Linux masters out there:

5) You must specify a share name for the connection

6) You must have the wed server running otherwise you must specify the file name with full path

7) inetd is history now, use xinetd, xinetd config file have different format from inetd.

8) you don't have to uninstall, use rpm -Uvh samba......(U stands for ungrade)

SSH soes not check for IP, it only check for user name and password. To limit IP address access, use IP tables.

iptables -A NPUT -s ! 192.168.0.1 -p tcp --dport 22 -j REJECT

Here is iptables howto

1)CD check should not fail, try download image and burn the CD again

2) If you check the "Check bad sector" then it will take long time. Also if you hard disk have bad sector, it will also take long time. If you BIOS have the ultility that can remember bad sector try to log the bad sector then the bad sectors shall be by passed.

I had been having problem with LPRNG and my HP6L printer since redhat 7.2.

When ever I print from Linux, the print job always stalled after completed 5 or 6 pages.

The funny thing is that if I print from windows through SAMBA, this problem does not happen. Anybody out there know the answer.
