I recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 on to my Gateway Model No:W323-UI1 and cannot connect to my local router. In my best estimate I need a driver for my internal PCI device.

I assume you are connected to the router using an ethernet cable.
Look at the output of the lsmod command? Do you see the via-rhine module loaded? You might have to add a kernel option pci=noacpi to the kernel boot line. The output of the command should display information on eth0 if everything is loaded correctly: ifconfig -a |

Problem Solved!
I just needed to install the b43-fwcutter and b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer packages. I also added the pci=noacpi option to the kernel boot line as recommended, but it is unclear whether or not that step was necessary on my machine. Thank you for your assistance michaelk. -------------------- mw88

Turns out adding the pci=noacpi option to the boot line causes GRUB2 to hang up on my machine.

I had assumed that you actually were trying to connect via wired not wireless.
noacpi should not be necessary. |
