As I am very new to linux and a very fluent windows power user with a lot of DOS experience, I am not accustomed to the command line language for terminals.
A guide on the various file types and available commands would make the move to linux a lot easier, especially as the commands are very different to that of DOS. -------------------- samsung R50

There is one guide I came on looking for. Under internet conectivity. You have a good deal of internet conectivity guides, except the one that I truly needed. D-Link AirPlus. Thank you.

I would like to see guides on setting up various servers. Things such as file services, print services, routing, DHCP, setting up networking esp. IPv6, etc. Many books cover Linus basics, but not enough get into the basic network services.

Compilation is covered in the Wiki unser "software_ionstallation" (http://wiki.linuxhelp.net/index.php/Software_Installation) but since there is no single method, you should consult the guides which come with each piece software, the are usually very helpful. Wherever possible, the instllation of individua packages is documentedd where necessary, but a generic "compilation guide" is not really feasible.

I'd like to see an intro guide on how to configure hostnames. I deleted my hostname setting, trying to connect to a wifi network, and now it is listed as <none>. Great, because now every config option returns a sudo error, editing the hostname file does as well, and my system is basically un-updateable as well. I've tried fixing a broken installation of Dapper Drake with the boot cd, but am not certain how to get it to save the settings for a new hostname. I need a little help, I'm sure its just my unfamiliarity with the basics that has made it so difficult
(although all the tutorial examples I've tried to emulate have returned sudo errors as well!) |

Seems to me that 'tvtime' is the flavor of the day for linux users wanting a tv app, so maybe an installation and setup guide would be welcome from the community? It did get tv app of the year award i am led to believe, yet surprisingly there is very little out there on it.

I´d (also) like to see a guide on devices with drivers for windows (i.e. my logitech chillstream Xbox style controller)
I´ve also got an external soundcard it´d be nice to have more control over. |

wrjamesjr,
Welcome to Linuxhelp. FWIW RH 9 is obsolete and will not have out of the box support for the latest hardware nor any of the features found in the newest distributions. If you are not using RH 9 for some legacy applications I would suggest installing the latest Fedora. |

I do like Premium Guides. I think they really help people learn the advantages and the disadvantages of a hero and help the player learn how to play him correctly. The best thing about Premium Guides is that by reading it, you can get the grasp of the hero even if you have never played him. You can find his best lane partner and his worst opponents, see the exact range of the skills, see the best item and skill build and in general find all the useful and interesting information you need.
