So while setting up a small samba server in my house, I put in a 3TB drive in and set it up with a GUID partition table. I formatted it to a ntfs partition and it worked just fine. After restarting the computer, the drive failed to mount (unlike the other drive in the computer) and it only appears to have 2.2TB of space. I am rather new to ubuntu, but i feel I can navigate around just fine. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

What version of Ubuntu are you running and what tool did you use to create and format the NTFS partition..
Unless there is a requirement to attach the drive to a windows computer It is better to use a native linux file system. samba is just the protocol to communicate between computers. The server does the actually read/write process so NTFS is not required. I am not sure if ntfsrogs has any size limitations. |
