Well this board did so good on the last post I made , I will try again. I have ewo cd units in my machine one a burner and the other a cdrom. The cd burner mounts fine, the cdrom does not mount regardless of cd inserted. When trying to mount it comes up with a box saying CD ROM, could not mount device, reported error was: /dev/cdrom: input/output error, mount: I could not determine the filestyle type and none was specified. The /etc/fstab shows /dev/cdrecorder. /media/cdrecorder. auto. ro, noauto, user, exec 00 /dev/cdrom. /media/cdrom. auto. ro,noauto, usr, exec 00. What am I missing.

Thanks Joey. Edited the file with pico and added my parameters. Also changed permissions. Now the little box is gone.

joey: The file is there but evidently cannot be read. I did ls -l and it showed up but Ido not know what type of permissions it needs to have set or really how to set them as I am completly new to linux. When I look it seems to have only permissions for root. Also when I view the file it has no little pen on it and is blank when I open it.
