Linuxhelp _ Tips and Tricks _ Playing Mp3 Files From Emacs...

Posted by: Hemant Dec 10 2003, 06:36 AM

Hi..all..
I am not going to give some great tip here....you will need a package
(i should call it rather a file)called mpg123.el for enabling mpg123 support from emacs...
So download mpg123.el from here
http://www.gentei.org/~yuuji/software/mpg123el/
and now..
$ mkdir elisp
$ cp mpg123.el elisp
and edit file .emacs so that it loads this file during startup.....

enjoy.....

just a follow up....actually the file downloaded from above location have some problems...so i will rather advise to download from here
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/m/mpg123-el/

download package titled mpg123-el_1.25.orig.tar.gz and for loading..it
(setq load-path (cons (expand-file-name "/home/harry/elisp/") load-path))
and another line
(autoload 'mpg123 "mpg123" "A front end for mpg123." t)
