Linuxhelp _ Technical Support _ mysql help on CentOS

Posted by: CallMeJeremy Jun 6 2011, 08:37 AM

Hello everyone. I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now and have come up blank so I decided it's time to ask the community!

I'm running a VPS, CentOS. I've setup mysql, version Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.77, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.1

This little VPS is being used to support game server (Team Fortress 2) related things, mainly stats and the like - so it shouldn't be in heavy use at all.

My problem is with mysql. I'm not sure why, but every now and then - daily - I can't hit any pages that call any sql queries. There's usually no errors, it just contantly spins like it's waiting for something.
Whenever it's like this, the mysqld process is utilizing 100% CPU.

I'm looking for some troubleshooting tips to help me figure what the cause is and how to fix it. Thank you.
