I'm a linux newbie and am having trouble establishing a connection to a server which I built using Red Hat Enterprise. I set the server ip address as and The other pc's are & From the server, I can ping the pc's on the network and I always get the correct response. But I can't ping the server from the pc's, the messages always either times out or I get a message say the host is unreachable. Is there a option set incorrectly or what am I missing?

If a firewall is running it might be configured to ignore ICMP requests. Turn it off and then try again.

As "root" you should be able to use command "arp -n" after a failed ping attempt... it you have the IP address and ARP in the cache being displayed, then the issue is most likely firewall.
