Linuxhelp _ Technical Support _ Help with Installing Ubuntu

Posted by: bart08 Dec 21 2008, 08:59 PM

I am trying to install ubuntu 10.8 linux on my old pc which was made in 1999 and runs XP slowly. I have tried to install ubuntu linux by using a ISO image on a disc but it is not working. I know the disc is good because I tried it on a newer XP PC and I could open it. On the old computer I used BIOS to list the CD-ROM as the 1st boot thing. I don't know why it is not booting the CD. In "My Computer" I tried to open the CD-DVD drive but it says please insert disc but the disc is in. Any one know any thing that could help me?

the specs of the old pc are
Gateway Performance 500 Deluxe
Intel Pentium 3 500MHz with 512k Cache
128MB 100MHz SDRAM
20.4GB 7200RPM Ultra ATA hard drive
