Linuxhelp _ Technical Support _ No "kernel= " In Menu.1st

I've installed Caldera OpenLinux Server 3.1.1 onto a clean harddrive.

At the very end of the installation, I get a "Some packages could not be installed" error. The machine reboots and I get a login prompt (I selected no graphics during the installation).

If I reboot after logging in, I get a GRUB > prompt. After looking at the contents of the menu.1st file, I've found their is no kernel = statement.

After searching the net for help, I've found that (at least it seems) there should be a kernel = vmlinuz-xxxx statement. Apparently this vmlinuz-xxx is the kernel file.

My problem is when I search the hdd (find / *vm*) I get a "No such file or directory" response.

??? HELP !!! ???

What boot loader did you choose to install, lilo or grub?

What files are located in your /boot directory? The kernel is normally installed as /boot/vmlinuz-version ie /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.15-3

I chose grub. When I perform a find / it doesn't return ANY vmlinuz file.

It's no longer an issue, I installed Mandrake 8.2 and it's working fine. Do you know anything about sendmail?
