Linuxhelp _ Technical Support _ Multiple Os's

Posted by: DruidWolf Nov 14 2002, 12:41 AM

Hello all,

I recently installed RedHat Linux 8.0 and during the install process I was able to configure my system as a dual-boot system using GRUB, with WinXP as my other OS. However, for some very particular reasons, I want to install a third OS, i.e. Win98. However being fairly new to Linux, I am having problems figuring out just how to edit the grub.conf file or the menu.lst file. From within Linux, I get an "access denied" error, and from within GRUB I cannot find a way to edit these files or launch an editor, and trying to use a boot floppy just boots my system to RedHat Linux after a 10 second countdown.

I've tried finding resources to help me figure things out, and while I do know exactly how to technically modify the necessary files, I just can't figure out how to simply edit them under Linux or in GRUB.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
DruidWolf
