Linuxhelp _ Technical Support _ Can't access Windows and its partition

Posted by: Ennai Apr 20 2017, 06:45 AM

Hi everyone. I'm a noob with linux, i installed Mint in uefi (my error lol) and now on OS selection there aren't Windows. In the file manager i can't even access to the Windows' partition, it says that is hibernate (it's so freaking strange but ok!!). What can i do now? I don't really matter to can get access to Windows but i need the files in the partition, ya know? Tnx in advance!
EDIT: Maybe i can disinstall Mint and reinstall it without uefi? What do you think?

Windows 8 and 10 normal shutdown actually hibernates the system so that booting is faster. This is why you see the warning message. You can force your windows drive to be mounted with the below command but you will lose any files that are open.

sudo mount -t ntfs-3g -o remove_hiberfile /dev/sda2 /mnt/

If your running windows 8 or 10 then it has to be uefi unless you upgraded from windows 7 and you need to use a 64 bit version. The Mint installer should of detected this so not sure what went wrong. You can reinstall grub
