Posted by: rocketron Feb 12 2015, 06:23 AM

Need help in plain language please.
Using Linux Mint V17.1 Rebecca 64 bit.
Suddenly for no reason a video I was watching on "Video" went haywire. Stopped it tried again same thing.
Deleted video thinking it had a virus(?)
Pc became sluggish.
Went into "Rubbish Bin" clicked on Empty all items. PC freezes and starts over working.
Get message Rubbish bin not responding try again still not responding. Click on force stop.
All icons on desktop now gone and pc going haywire and freezing
Restart. All Icons are back.
Scan with BleachBit. No found virus'.
Whenever I go near Rubbish Bin same thing happens, PC goes haywire and freezes.
Have tried emptying Rubbish from terminal but nothing happens.
Can anyone help me please?

Since a video file might be fairly large and depending on how much is in the bin it might take some time to delete its contents. Without knowing anything about your system specifications it might slow it down.

Thanks michaelk. Thought that might be the case. Tried deleting just one item, same thing occurs. I get the rubbish bin not responding message. Tried deleting a small file, same thing. There's not a lot in there actually, I emptied previously fairly regularly. When PC re-started it acts fairly normally, bit sluggish.
I have tried repaing the installation during boot up, but that hasn't solved anything either.
