Linuxhelp _ Programming in Linux _ gtk autosizing elements (very new To this)

Posted by: collectordave Oct 15 2017, 03:09 AM

Hi all

Very new to this using Purebasic to write cross platform applications, stricktly hobbyist.

I have ubuntu 16.04LTS.

When I run my programms on other OS all is ok but on linux the text boxes and combo boxes etc are resized automatically to fit the content.

Is there anyway to turn this off as it is making a right mess of the user interface.

Kind Regards

Since PureBasic is a commercial product you might need to contact them to get support.

The problem appears to be gtk3. It now automatically sorts and resizes controls on forms, in some cases breaking programmes allready written, in others like mine making programming under the latest release of linux extremely frustrating.

Regressing to an older version of Linux fixes 99% of the problems but of course this means that Linux is not onward compatible with anything written for it.
