What files are you trying to open?

you have to chmod them so they can be ran in some cases. other wise type ./"name of file", or you add it to your path variables.

run man chmod to find out how to use that shit

but if your looking for a fast run of a file just type: chmod o=wrx "filename" then use the ./ convention to run it.

Who says...you need to do chmod for opening files??

Just open the file browser and try double clicking everything you see....Don't worry nothing will explode!!

If you are using Gnome, then you should have Computer or Home icon..just try double clicking on them. Same with KDE. Don't jump into commands now..
