Linuxhelp _ Hardware Support _ Ethernet Buggy....

Posted by: drtim Mar 9 2004, 07:18 PM

I've swapped in and out four NICs with the same result- the attempt to bring up ethernet always fails- the card seems to be sending out (always 3 packets out to PING and none return) but getting no response.

There's no problem with my other installs- just no interface on this one. I evn copied the disk image from another machine that works with the same card to make sure that the driver was right, but to no avail.

Input? Anyone?

Thanks..

Dr. Tim

Could be a chipset driver issue ... is it an NForce chipset on the motherboard?

It's a Gigabyte board, so I'm fairly confident that yes, it's got an nforce set- I'm at my work box now and won't be able to check until later, but Gigabyte seems to be nforce....god willing I'm not screwed....
