Can anyone help this newbie? Running Red Hat 9, I changed the display resolution of my monitor; now at the end of the boot sequence it just powers down. How can I get back to reverse the changes I've made?

boot up, turn off the monitor when it starts to switch to GUI ... wait til the hard drive light stops blinking, then press Ctrl-Alt-F2 ...

turn on the monitor, you should have a console display.

login as root, edit the file /etc/X11/XF86Config
find the section that looks similar to this:

CODE
       SubSection "Display"
               Depth     24
               Modes    "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
       EndSubSection

remove the modes that don't work ... save the file
