Linuxhelp _ Hardware Support _ Cd Writer Won't Mount

Posted by: pani68 Feb 19 2004, 07:15 AM

I have recently loaded Redhat Linux (7.2) to a 200 Mhz pentium PC. The installation was smooth from the CD(writer) drive.

When I try to mount the CD drive for reading it gives errors. However, the CD writing program (cdrecord) recognises the drive. Will anyone help me to mount the CD writer for reading CDs? The CD writer is of HP make, model is 8200 (very old one).

Thanks.

It would help if you provided some usefull information.

What are the errors? What type of CD are you trying to mount? And how are you trying to mount the CD?

You can not mount audio CDs. You also can not mount CDs created with Roxio's DirectCD or Nero's InCD without adding support for packet writing.
